Our Story
Maui Home Grown Microgreens began with the same goal many local families share: learn how to grow more food close to home.
Years ago, we started in the backyard, growing the traditional way in soil, buckets, raised beds, and aquaponics. Along the way, we dealt with the realities that come with growing food outdoors, including pests, disease, and changing weather. That process taught us a lot, but it also made one thing clear: if we wanted a crop that was fresh, practical, and more efficient to grow year-round, we needed a better fit.
That search led us to microgreens.
What began as a discovery turned into a clear direction for the business. Microgreens offered a way to grow fresh food in less time, in less space, and with more consistency. They also aligned with something bigger than convenience: the belief that local food production matters on Maui.
